Combination skin can be confusing. Your forehead, nose and chin (the T-zone) may shine and break out, while your cheeks feel tight or flaky. Using one heavy cream makes the T-zone greasy; using only gel textures leaves cheeks thirsty.
The trick is to treat different areas slightly differently. Start with a gentle, non-stripping cleanser that doesn’t leave any part of your face squeaky dry. Over-cleansing the T-zone can actually trigger more oil production and irritate dry areas further.
For moisturising, use a light lotion or gel over the whole face, then add an extra layer of richer cream on just the driest parts, like the cheeks and sides. This “layering” lets you customise without buying ten different products. In the T-zone, you might occasionally add targeted treatments for blackheads or breakouts, but keep them away from already dry skin.
Sunscreen is still essential everywhere during the day. Look for formulas marketed as non-comedogenic or suitable for combination skin to avoid heaviness in the centre of the face.
Combination skin is normal, not a problem that must be fixed completely. Your goal is comfort and balance, not total oil removal.
