Medical emergencies are stressful, but a bit of planning beforehand makes response faster and calmer. Every household can prepare a simple “emergency kit” and information pack.
Your kit doesn’t need to be complicated: basic bandages, antiseptic, pain relievers appropriate for your family, a thermometer, and any critical personal medicines kept in a known spot. Check expiry dates occasionally.
Equally important is information. Have a list of emergency phone numbers – ambulance, local hospital, key relatives – on the fridge or near the main door. Keep copies of important medical documents (like major diagnoses and current medicines) in an easy-to-grab folder.
Decide in advance which hospital you’d go to in different scenarios, depending on distance and facilities, instead of debating it in a panic. If you have elderly members or people with known conditions, share the plan with everyone at home.
You can’t predict everything, but you can avoid total chaos. A little preparation today can save precious minutes and a lot of confusion tomorrow.
