Facial hair removal is a personal choice, and there’s no one “correct” method. Threading, waxing and shaving each have their pros and cons; what matters is what your skin tolerates and what fits your schedule and budget.
Threading uses a twisted cotton thread to pull out hair from the root. It gives clean, defined lines for eyebrows and removes even fine hair. Many people like it for its precision, but some find it painful or irritating, especially if done roughly or on sensitive areas.
Waxing pulls out multiple hairs at once using warm or cold wax. It gives smooth results for longer than shaving because hair is removed from the root. However, it can cause redness, swelling or even small bumps, particularly in acne-prone or sensitive skin. Careful temperature and technique are important to avoid burns or skin tearing.
Shaving is quick, cheap and easy to do at home. With a clean, sharp razor and a good shaving cream or gel, it can be surprisingly gentle. Contrary to myth, it doesn’t change hair thickness; it just cuts it straight, making regrowth feel different initially. For some people, though, shaving can cause razor burn or ingrown hairs.
Patch-testing and starting slowly is wise. If one method repeatedly leads to irritation, try another or consult a professional for long-term options like laser.
